Next Races and Wild Friday Nights!

Happy Friday, Blogettas!  Before I get into the main part of this post, I'd like to say I hope you're having a great Friday.  On my Friday evenings when I am not out partying all night with all the other running bloggers, I usually face a big choice....

What To Watch ?!?!?

Indulge Wedding Dress Fantasies?
Watch sensationalist murder story?

Usually Say Yes To the Dress Wins!  Come on...you know you love it too!

But Ok....here's the serious part of the post.  I need your help in choosing my next half marathon!  Only one is set in stone for next week:
Run with LC?
Running Leg of Wildflower Triathlon (May 1 - Half Marathon)

Option 1)  Laguna Hills Half Marathon - May 30
Pros:  Probably totally beautiful, I can schmooze with the Rich Folks, Relatively Cheap ($55), Kinda Close to Home
Cons:  Course is Hilly and I wanna PR :-)

Option 2)  Seattle Rock and Roll Half - Mid June
Pros:  Looks flat.  Trying out the Rock and Roll Series could be fun!  Cool weather (Seattle)
Cons:  Poor BF (in Seattle) will have to watch me race AGAIN!  Pricey.  Umm...Is the R&R series fun?

Race will likely be during the daytime

Option 3)  Ventura Beach Front Half  - Mid June
Pros:  Flat, Cheap, Possibly Pretty
Cons:  A bit of a drive for me, brochure says there might be a 30 second train delay?

So...what to choose?  Has anyone run any of these or anything in the R&R series?

What races are you planning to dominate in this Spring?  :)

  1. My vote is for Laguna Beach, maybe you'll see LC's house! haha

  2. I would choose the Ventura Beach half. The train delay is only a "might" plus it's flat.

  3. hahaha i love the night picture of seattle, just in case any of your readers don't know anything about seattle.

i miss say yes to the dress so much!

I say option two! I think it'd be fun to do an R&R race! Plus if you want to PR it would certainly be easier with a bit of time to train and a flat course. But you always do good so then I'd say go with the one that has the least annoying factors (i.e. long drive, train delay, hills!??!).

  4. I pick #2 only because I've always wanted to do a R&R race and then I can live vicariously through you. Plus, more likely to PR, right?

  5. I'm a fan of the R&R races, though they're HUGE & can be crowded... I like that big party feel, so that's what I'd vote for. On the other hand, I've had my eye on the Laguna Hills run too b/c it's so close & so much cheaper.

  6. I have not run any of the Rock n Roll series but I am really interested in possibly doing one in the future. They just look like so much fun!

  7. My vote is also Rock n' Roll :) I know they're a bit pricey, but they just look SO FUN!

  9. Thanks for your comment, Margs!
Option 3 might be best if you're going for a PR. As for the Seattle RNR, I've heard the half course is really great. It's fairly flat for Seattle but not sure what you are used to. You'll have to check the profile online. As for RNR in general = I was totally against them because they're like the McDonalds or Starbucks of races (a big chain). Plus, they are hella $$. BUT I was in New Orleans in Feb for a random trip and signed up for the RNR half there and LOVED it. I felt like the $ was worth it because it was so well-organized and the bling is nice. Also, there was a spirit associated with it from the crowd that just made it more fun than other races. If you have someone to stay with up here & you get a good deal on a flight, it could be a fun race.
What about the San Diego RNR?
I'm also contemplating RNR Las Vegas Half (it's at night!) but it's not until December.

  10. I'd do a flat race, but that's because I usually don't run hills around town!

...or maybe you could do all three hehe :)

  11. I'd go Seattle...simply because that's my hometown! Plus, June is a great time of year there - no worries about being too hot yet.
