Now For Triple Tangent Saturday Night!  

1) Guilty Pleasure Movies:   As sucky as it is to be in a long distance relationship, there are a couple of perks.  One is watching girl movies by yourself.  I am spending my Saturday night in watching The Notebook.  For the 500th time.   It's on Oxygen and it's glorious.

2) Old Lady Gardens:  I did some other old spinster stuff today, like starting a garden.  Which made me realize one more glorious thing about Southern California:  you can start a freaking garden in August.  Hell, I could probably start one in January if the plants were ok with being a little chilly now and then.

I've always been kind of into plants and here's why:  My family had a garden growing up.  And also, believe it or not, I spent most of my childhood without a TV (I learned the characters on Saved By The Bell as an adult to escape ridicule).  Whenever the Burpees Seed catalog came in the mail, while every other kid was watching Full House, I was memorizing all the hybrid strains of tomatoes and their disease resistances.  Truth is stranger than fiction.

My new plant assortment includes one tomato, one pepper, and oregano.  If only I could grow some mozzarella cheese, I'd be in for a tasty snack.  I've got a daddy plant from a few weeks back that I'm sure will take care of the little ones:

3) What the heck is up with this 5k course?  Like a good prepared runner, I took a look at the course of the 5k I'm running tomorrow.  It's on the OC fair grounds, and frankly the course looks a bit like a carnival itself.

California Girls, We're Unforgettable

The Bachelorette ended tonight.  It was amazing.  Also, sometimes you just know you have a kickass boyfriend (who hates all reality TV but puts up with me):

This weekend I went to Sacramento and to the California State Fair.

It was awesome.  We saw baby and Momma goats:

And of course I wanted to play with the best animal in the world (the BUNNY of course)...

Even better than the fair, I got to have an awesome phone conversion with the talented Arty Runner Chick (we were gonna meet up, but we both were without wheels at the time!).  

I also got to meet up with a couple college friends, Kyle and Roma.  

Pretty sure Kyle is either a vampire or wearing one of those dog head cones:

...When with college friends....act like you're in college!  

Needless to say, there were no speed workouts done this weekend.

I had a pretty good workout this morning and finished one I failed at last week (2x2 miles at 6:40, 1% incline, 5 minutes rest in between, woo hoo!).  Phil Collins on my ipod got me through it.  I love power ballads.

We've got two weeks left in one of the most heart wrenching and emotional experiences I've ever been through:  The Bachelorette.

I've come to the following conclusions:  

1)  Ben F. must be taking sedatives.  

2)  JP and Ash wanna make out all day lonnggg.  

3)  Ben F and Constantine's next dates should be to go get haircuts! (Are they twins?)

4)  I really want Ames to find a girl.  I liked his line about making everyday things romantic.  

5)  I wanna see Emily (Maynard from last show) run a marathon so we can see her sweaty and yelling for shot blocks at mile 20.   

I did a breakdown of the contest leader board and I gotta say, you guys were MUCH better at choosing the top guys than I was!

I loved how several of you mentioned your love for JP, but KP made me laugh the most with her comment:

"I hope she doesn't pick JP because then he can move back to New York and be available to date me!"

I am somewhat appalled that my boyfriend, who would rather shoot himself than watch the Bachelorette got 2 out of the top 3. He chose one dude who was already off the show and the others because he likes movies and hippies.  His comment: 

"I'm afraid you're all wrong ladies! This is how its going to shake out:

1. Constantine (I love that movie they made about him)
2. Ben F. (Hippies FTW)
3. Bentley (babes love the brawny man)"

Sooooo....

Dear Ashley H.,

Even though sometimes you are annoyingly perky, I hate seeing you all sad.  

We really need to have some girl time together, you and I.  I need to give you some straight talk and get to the root of why you like all the dudes who are mean, sleezy, and talk really slow.  

Brad Womack?  This Bentley dude?

And then when you were saying that your relationship with Bentley was left unresolved after he left?

I think the J.P. dude really has something going for him.  He wore jammies with you!  I'm thinkin' he makes it to the end.  He'll make you happy.  Just give him a chance.

And don't worry about not being like Emily.  I'm intimidated by her too.  If only she were a b**ch it would be ok to hate her, but she seems so darned nice.
