I'm really glad you're already taking a mellow approach to yours.

You will love NYC and I think your training sounds great. It jives with the book I'm reading right now (RUN by Matt Fitzgerald). If you don't train with joy, you won't train well and you won't get fit.

I also really liked the black hole metaphor. On many levels.Terzahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10617301871875902162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272628930275648239.post-11016113852948827592012-08-08T11:37:43.657-07:002012-08-08T11:37:43.657-07:00YAY on NYC! Have fun with the tri--you will do awesome! Manatees unite! However, I am prepping to manatee my way through 1500m of swimming/chugging lake water.

As for marathon training!! :-) I know you don't want to be glued to a plan, which is fabulous. Deviating from a plan scares me because I am afraid of messing up... at any rate I liked this plan: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244--13791-3-1X2X3X4X5-6,00.html
Even if you don't want a plan necessarily, I like their philosophy on training, especially the "marathon pace" runs because I really could have done it in my sleep (actually, I ended up exceeding what I trained at... but I started out on pace, and eventually crept down...) so... I just like their philosophy, in case you want to pick and choose at what they teach. (And you know... they coach Desi Davila so... there's that)Monicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08631687278308049290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272628930275648239.post-57513425513631954112012-08-07T21:21:22.918-07:002012-08-07T21:21:22.918-07:00That's a lot of cool stuff going on in BunnyLa...That's a lot of cool stuff going on in BunnyLand :)

Greece will be awesome. That is how I pr'd at my last marathon and is also how I'm training for my next. Sometimes it better to let our bodies control the workouts rather than a peice of paper. Good luck with your training and yay for Greece. If you do something like that and swim a bit, I think you'll be fine and the time off will be good for you. I'd recommend following a training plan, but only because that's always worked for me -- I'm sure you can kick butt w/o one if that's best for you. I'd recommend hitting 18+ miles at least 3x, ideally 20+ at least 2x on your long runs, but again, a million different plans say a million different things and work well for a million different people!Carinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04079263542797994315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272628930275648239.post-32308417800394407872012-08-07T06:13:11.748-07:002012-08-07T06:13:11.748-07:00Pretty sure I am super jealous that you are going ...Pretty sure I am super jealous that you are going to Greece!
